???? Temperament & Personality
Hazel is incredibly sweet and gentle—an old soul in a young body. She’s calm, affectionate, and easy to live with. Around the house, she’s mellow and respectful, fully housebroken, and crate trained. In the field, she lights up with drive and focus, retrieving birds, antlers, and bumpers with natural enthusiasm.
She has a beautiful blocky head paired with a lean, athletic frame—classic Labrador looks with working-dog elegance. Her demeanor is balanced: high drive when it counts, and peaceful when it doesn’t.

Hazel is a started dog with a solid foundation:
- Obedience: Sit, stay, come when called
- Retrieving: Birds, antlers, bumpers
- Commands: “Load up,” “Kennel,” “Crate”
- Lifestyle: Fully potty trained, housebroken, and crate/kennel trained
She’s ready for more advanced gun dog work if you’re looking to build her into a seasoned field companion. Her “stay” command could use some reinforcement, and she’d benefit from additional leash and lead work—but she’s smart, willing, and easy to train.
As long as Hazel remains with us, we’ll continue progressing her training—including starting hold conditioning to further refine her retrieve.
???? Health & Certification
Hazel is AKC registered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated—including rabies, distemper, bordetella, and kennel cough. She has excellent hips and elbows certified through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA)—a process that cost nearly $1,000 and provides peace of mind that she’s structurally sound and set up for a long, healthy life.
She does have mild seasonal allergies, which are easily managed with a simple ear wash and a few drops of ear medication when symptoms appear. This was first noticed during her OFA vet visit, where she showed slight redness in her ears—no infection or inflammation, just signs of a seasonal allergy. That’s the only reason she didn’t make it into our breeding program. We hold an extremely high standard for our breeding females, and even minor health quirks are disqualifying.
???? Value & Rehoming Philosophy
Started female retrievers with Hazel’s pedigree, training, and temperament typically range from $4,000 to $6,000, and in some cases—especially with advanced field titles or elite bloodlines—can go for $10,000 to $15,000.
We’re offering Hazel for $2,000, which is extremely reasonable given her training, certifications, and readiness to join a home today. We’re not looking to rehome her for profit. We could easily market her as a started female and wait for the right buyer through our website, but our priority is finding a loving home where she’ll be appreciated immediately.
This decision hasn’t been made lightly—Hazel is deeply loved and truly special. She simply didn’t meet our breeding standard due to mild seasonal allergies, and we want her to thrive in a home that values her for the incredible dog she is.
