The Deutsch Drahthaar is considered the most versatile hunting dog in the world. We breed and raise only VDD registered Drahthaars which means all our dogs are breed certified and all puppies are registered. Just what does this mean to someone looking for a hunting dog? Both parents have passed a minimum of 2 hunt tests. During these tests the dogs use of nose, search, pointing, cooperation, and ability to track are evaluated. They also go through many retrieving tests, and also judged on their desire to work. At any time dog shows aggression toward people or other dogs, or displays intimidation they are marked not breedable. They will have their hips, shoulders, elbows evaluated for any genetic defects. They will have passed the breed show to ensure their coat and confirmation is within the breed standard. We do all our training for hunting and breed testing, we have provided many hunters with their first drathaar and in many cases their very first hunting dog. We take great pleasure in helping them train and prepare their dog for the field. We do not require testing but we will help those who would like to test their dogs and appreciate their efforts.
