Bluetick Coonhound originates from America and dates back to the colonial era. It's known as an active and energetic dog whose persona is friendly. The dog breed carries the head high, and the tail is always over its back. The name Bluetick comes from the "blue" coloring seen in the black ticking on a white background giving it a navy blue appearance. This ticking appears on the dog's body in variously-shaped spots on the ears, back, and sides. The head is mostly predominantly black. But there are some with brown markings on the muzzle sides, above the yes and around the chest area down to the legs. Blueticks without markings are only white and black.
When standing, the Blueticks Coonhounds measures between 21 inches and 27 inches tall. The male is bigger than the female weighing between 55 pounds and 80 pounds. Females weigh between 45 pounds and 65 pounds. Their feet have arched toes and resemble those of a cat, but paws are more prominent than what most dog breeds have. The hind legs are moderately bent around the hocks, though all legs look straight when looked from the rear or the front.
