The name Bluetick comes from the "blue" coloring seen in the black ticking on a white background giving it a navy blue appearance. But there are some with brown markings on the muzzle sides, above the yes and around the chest area down to the legs. Blueticks without markings are only white and black.
When standing, the Blueticks Coonhounds measures between 21 inches and 27 inches tall. The male is bigger than the female weighing between 55 pounds and 80 pounds. Females weigh between 45 pounds and 65 pounds. Their feet have arched toes and resemble those of a cat, but paws are more prominent than what most dog breeds have.
