Huck is an incredibly sweet male who has a wonderful pedigree and the talent and personality to match!
Huck was started early by an advanced Smith apprentice and spent a winter in SC. He was started development as a field trial dog.
We transitioned him to a hunting dog in 2025 and he has most recently been with a trainer for a 3 month tune-up and focused more on a shortened range, birds shot over him, and encouraging retrieve. He was health tested but never bred (OFA Hips Good, Elbows Normal, Cardiac Normal, Patella normal, PennHip .45/.36). Hes had annual bloodwork/fecal/urinalysis/tickborn panels and most recent bloodwork was 9/9/25. UTD on all vaccinations.
Huck is a fast, enthusiastic, and athletic dog who typically ranges 50-70 yards. He can open up pretty good but has been intentionally shortened some for hunting and isnt difficult to keep a handle on. He has a good recall but if you want/allow him to roll he can reach out and swing edges and fence rows. He isnt afraid to dog in when needed and hunts woods/cover well too. He has been run off foot, ATV, and horseback.
He has an exceptional nose and bird finding ability and a ton of point. He will need to continue steadiness work depending on your expectations but will find and point birds to go hunt NOW. If you want steadiness to flush the foundation is there but he will need to continue development. He will locate down birds and has a retrieve but also needs continued experience here to get to hand.
Hes extremely sweet and affectionate. Hes a softer dog in the home and was housebroken but will need a refresher. NO concerns with marking (he isnt even a leg lifter outside). Hes crate trained well and easy for all handling/grooming. Extremely good (plays like a puppy) with younger dogs and is respectful of older dogs. Totally kid friendly and appropriate (he LOVES attention).
Hed be an awesome hunting, companion and outdoor buddy. Hes a happy and very sweet boy!
