I cannot express enough how happy I am with my experience with Prince Quality Gun Dogs. A friend of mine had told me about him when I was looking for my first hunting dog. I called John and picked his brain. I told him what I was looking for, and he told me that he had a litter coming up and he would see if one of the pups would work for me. He called back and told me he had two he wanted me to look at. He sent photos, but better yet, we met and he showed me the pups. He promised me that the dog would exceed my expectations, or he would take it back and get me a dog that would. Long story short, I will NEVER give my dog back. He is by far, the best dog I have ever hunted behind. (I might be a little biased!!)
About a month ago, John had a training session with me and other Prince dog owners. I knew that I did not have my dog Huck trained to his potential, because to be honest, I really did not know how best to train him, plus we really didnt get into too many birds this year. Within 20 minutes, John took Huck from a good dog, to a great dog. He was holding point like a pro, and bringing downed birds back. The best part was, John taught me just as much about training Huck. I cannot wait till next season. Huck with be a hunting machine!!

I contacted Princes Quality Gun Dogs due to the fact that I had been experiencing obedience issues with my GSP that I had purchased from another kennel. I asked if he could me with basic commands such as the HERE, WHOA and HEEL. I set up an appointment with John and within an hr of him working with Sammy my female gsp I noticed a tremendous improvement in her behavior and attitude. Previously she had ignored all commands, very stubborn and an independent dog. I was worried about her getting loose and getting hit by a vehicle or something. And that is why I contacted John. I am very pleased with the commands he showed and how quickly she picked up on them. And the whole while he was showing me how to take control of Sammy and make her the dog that I want to be so proud of and not have to worry about her safety. John is just not a gun dog trainer but he can bring your dog to he/shes full potential in about any situation. We came to Princes Quality Gun Dogs to purchase a w/l female GSP named Dolly. We had her for a total of 4 mo. before she accidentyly got hit by a vehicle. You could tell she had alot of pointing ability as she would always point our tame rabbit. We loved we dearly and it was the hardest thing that I have ever been through. I know that if she would have grown up she was going to be a really good hunting dog. I miss her dearly but had to have another pup from John to help fill the void. I have since purchased another female from John which I can also tell is going to be a great hunting dog as well as family companion. When I came to get her she was pointing and carrying a pheasant wing all around. We also have a deposit down on another female from John because we are so pleased with what we have seen and how we have been treated. John has always been there for me addressing my concerns and needs in our future dogs. I would recommend him to anybody who is looking for a pup or dog. I purchased an 8 week old puppy, the dog or myself never had any formal training just a book and a great breeder. My pup was pointing and retrieving at 6 months the first time out. He needed no training that my novice eye could tell. Each time I take my dog out hunting I am more impressed with the Breeding by Princes Quality Gun Dogs. John is the most honest and best guy to buy bird dogs from. He also offer the best dogs around. we have now bought three dogs from John and are very pleased with all of them. You dont have to be rich to buy a dog hear either call him and he will find a dog to fit in your price range but he wont sell u a bad dog. he will be up front and honest about every dog he shows u and is more willing to tell u what the dog may struggle with then to try and hide it by talking up its other abilities. If your in the market for a bird dog look no further than John best place to get the best dogs.
I called John up after reviewing his many testimonials. After purchasing a pup from John it didnt take long to realize that all the testimonials were spot on. At 7 mo. of age with the help of John training my dog, he would point and hold birds to the flush, handle, retrieve to me and retrieve out of water. I wanted a calmer dog for the family but when you put him in the field he is a different animal. At 4 mo and 2 days of age we put him on his first quail and the 3rd bird we shot over him and John thought since he was so mature for his age that he would also HERE break him. So, not only was he pointing and holding to the flush at 4 mo of age but now he was also retrieving to my hand. Growing up on N. Central KS, I knew what I was looking for in a gun dog and John gave me everything that I was looking for and the dog proved himself at a much earlier age then expected. At 8 mo. of age I wish it was November. I would recommend anyone that is looking for a QUALITY gun dog I would recommend Mr. Prince!!!
I was recommended by a friend to view Johns website. And after reading what John was doing with his breeding program. I knew it was everything I was looking for in a gun dog. After picking up my pup at 12 wks age I knew immediately that my pup was doing things that were natural traits of what I was looking for. He was a quick learner and everything that I tried to teach him just came natural. I know that there are testimonials that may attest to Johns ability to train but I watched him first hand WHOA break my dog at 7 mo of age in 19 min. he was pointing and holding birds at a distance 10-12 yds with his tail up looking like a million dollars. The tail was not down from too much pressure but rather straight up in the air like he had done it all his life. If he took a step all John had to say was WHOA and he stopped on a dime and let John flush the bird, shoot it and my 7 mo old pup retrieved directly to hand. This was only after his very first session which was at 4mo 1 day of age which we shot birds over him at that time as well. You see, once you buy a pup from John he offers you a deal to come back to his place, stay with him and he will literally train your dog for you. All you have to do is come to his facility and he will do all the work. Nobody else offers this deal. Usually once you buy a dog from somebody its your dog and that is the end of it. With John he wants you to have the best and it shows with what he says and does for you. You will find a better deal anywhere and especially not for the QUALITY of dog you get. I will be back for another dog one day soon and I wouldnt waste my time anywhere else only after what I have seen and been promised have come true. I will refer John to everyone. My husband contacted John thru gundogbreeders.com about training my gsp while he was deployed in Afghanistan. He and my husband discussed everything and John agreed to keep him an extra mo. at the same charge until I could pick him up. John gave a 10% discount on the training and does this for all MILITARY!!! I came to pick REMI up and viewed all of his training while shooting a video of REMI and John doing their thing together so that my husband could see how he did in the field and to know what commands to use as well. When I went to the field my REMI was pointing and holding birds to the flush, handling and retrieving to my 6 yr old son Landon. Landon was telling REMI to WHOA and he would stay there until Landon threw the bird and Remi would again go get the bird and bring it back to him. I am very pleased with Remis performance and want to Thank John for his help in making Remi a great hunting dog!!!
2 yrs ago I contacted John about purchasing a male gsp after I had just lost another dog to old age. It has been over 2 yrs now since I purchased BILLY. He was my 8th gsp over a period of 35 yrs. He is the most stylish and probably the most gifted of all the dogs I have owned. He has been a rock solid pointer and I spent very little time with him training. He is natural at retrieving on land as well as in water. Without hesitation he will dive in the water like a lab and retrieve anything I ask him to. I am just now submitting this testimonial which is long overdue due to the fact that I have purchased my 2nd gsp from John. I drove from St. Paul Minnesota which is a 9 hr drive or 530 miles to purchase my little female gsp. I would not have driven that far if I had not been completely satisfied with BILLY in the way he looks and hunts. I want Thank John for his hospitality while I was at his home he took me fishing, out to dinner and I spent the night with him and his wife Judy. Thank You John for all that you have done and I cant wait til my little female gsp grows up to be as good as BILLY!
