Bob is a 5yo, easy handling, 50-200 yard dog. He is whoa broke, and tone broke. He occasionally retrieves but will point dead birds.
What I like about him:
He’s super easy to handle, especially with the tone on the collar you can work him close or let him get out to about 200 where he will usually come check back in.
He holds his birds solid and is a really fun dog to take to the preserve. He is always looking for you and hunting to the front. Listens well and is really easy to keep in bounds on those properties where crossing the property line could turn into trouble.
Very clean in the kennel.
What I don’t like about him:
He will jump on the tailgate, but I got to push him in the box.
He is hit or miss on backing another dog. It’s usually all or nothing. He will always back if you whoa him, so that kinda makes up for it, it’s just not ideal.
He doesn’t have a ton of stamina anything over a couple days in a row out west and he is at your feet.
He is just a pretty average dog in terms of drive and bird finding.
Bottom line is he is an average bird dog, that you can and I have killed birds over. If you are looking for a dog that does great at the preserve, and good on a weekend hunt I think Bob will work great for you , and I’ve always hunted him with my other dogs, so who knows he may really shine in a 1 dog home.
