George is a started English setter. I bought him as lightly started dog last fall. The original owner categorized the dog as needing a little confidence boosting around gun fire and confidence on ranging. These were complete mischaracterizations. He was completely gun shy and would only hunt under foot.
I’ve got George to the point where I can shoot birds over him and ranging 35-50 yards. He’s got a really good noes and excellent point. He hunts dead, has some natural retrieving instincts, but isn’t retrieving consistently. George is house trained, kennel trained, rides well in the car, great with other dogs, and kids. He’s been exposed to e-collar but generally he’s such a well behaved dog that it isn’t necessary.
