Grousebuster Gundogs is a small kennel, originally from Kentucky, but now located in the northwest corner of Minnesota. We are two hours east of Grand Forks and thirty minutes south of Roseau. We raise German Shorthaired Pointers bred for the foot hunter and specifically for hunting Ruffed grouse. Weve been selectively breeding for over 20 years. We offer training of pointing and flushing breeds for upland hunting and guided hunts for Ruffed grouse and Woodcock in the fall.

I have run hunt tests also and have dogs I have master hunter titled in the breed line. Pups are raised in my home and introduced to the field and retrieving. Preliminary house training is started. They will experience traveling in a kennel frequently. My preferred home for my pups is a hunting home or field trial/hunt test owners/family. Pursuit Brittanys is a small hobby kennel established in 1999. We compete in AKC and AF field trials and, from time to time, conformation shows. Our journey began with the acquisition of an orange and white puppy, Lee’s Maggie Rose JH (Maggie), in October 1999 as a 2-month old pup. She came by way of a breeder that ran a string of Brittanys at a South Georgia quail hunting plantation. In 2003 we became interested in hunting tests, field trials and conformation shows. After participating in hunting tests we became more serious about field events and decided to try field trialing. At the same time we made a move to broaden our Brittany line to be more field trial oriented, as opposed to bird hunting. Although well regarded in their day, the Richmond and Milligan Brittany breeding lines that Maggie was part of had faded into relative obscurity. We felt it would be beneficial to find a dog(s) from a more current and successful line(s). After researching Brittany field trial results and various lines of Brittanys we decided to focus on lines leading from NFC Beans Blaze, DC Scipio’s Little Chick, NFC Hi Proof Rum Runner and FC/AFC Chubasco II. These dogs all were high performance dogs in their day and were well recognized as having produced high quality pups. In 2005, we acquired from Dave and Faye Walker a white and liver, female Brittany. That little pup became DC BBB’s Flashy Rose JH (Roxie). Her parentage was DC Chick’s Blaze’n Sawtooth Sam x CH BBB’s Flashlight, each representing many of the foundation lines we were looking for. Roxie was Dual Champion #563 at 5 years of age and only the 20th liver bitch to become a Dual Champion. Roxie lived a long life, passing on in 2021, only 7 months shy of her 16th birthday. Roxie produced three litters for us. From those litters came multiple field champions in amateur and open stakes. One female pup went on to produce another Dual Champion. We currently have a Roxie granddaughter, Pursuit’s Broadway Glitz (Betsy) and a granddaughter of Phoenix’s Li’l Lucy, AF CH/AF R-U CH/FC Pursuit’s Li’l Phoenix (Phoebe). Phoebe also has 2 points toward her GFC. Both have American Brittany Club Eastern Futurity All Age wins. Although we consider ourselves to be primarily line breeders, we have brought important dogs into our breedings to augment our foundation breeding lines represented by DC BBB’s Flashy Rose JH and Phoenix’s Li’l Lucy. Some of the accomplished dogs we have included in our breedings are NAFC Piney Run Sam, NFC/NAFC Just Call Me Roy, FC/AFC One Off Mojito Mike, DC The Whiz Kid, DC/Can. DC Kinwashkly Dirty Ned Pepper, DC Sunnyvale Point Of Interest, FC/AFC Chubasco II, NAGDC/GFC4/FC/AFC Sniksoh Hank’s Hatch, GFC2/FC/AFC I’m Your Man, and others.
