HISTORY – Copper has been on birds since 4 months old and has some of the best natural bird-finding ability I’ve ever seen. He runs hard, covers the field thoroughly, quarters well, and holds a strong point until the shot. He has hunted wild birds in both the California mountains and flatlands and has proven himself in a variety of cover and conditions. Copper has also competed since he was a pup and placed in the top 3 in 2024 & 2025 doubles field trials.
FLAWS – On the retrieve he will bring the bird back but sometimes stops about 5 feet short. He will hold birds all day long, but finishing the retrieve to hand isn’t always consistent. For hunting, this may not be an issue, but for competition it’s something to be aware of.
IDEAL HOME – Copper wants a job and loves to please. He can excel as a 1-on-1 hunting partner or as part of a working string, as he’s been trained and run with a large group of hunting dogs from the start. He is a kennel and yard dog, has not offered to jump fences, and adapts easily to new routines. An excellent home is a must – he doesn’t have to leave, but he deserves the chance to be someone’s top dog.
