My dog had no idea he was near a bird until he almost stepped on the bird and the bird moved. Can there be an issue of lack of scent in pen raised birds? My dog has found and pointed in the past. thanks |

Although how you handle the bird might make a difference. I believe it more likely to be related to the scenting conditions on that day. Maybe little to no wind or high temperature / humidity. There are so many other factors that could be considered. How long had the bird been planted? How thick was the cover the bird was planted in. Did it allow for the wind to disperse the scent. How long had the dog been running. Was he upwind or downwind from the bird. |
