Even more so as temperatures fluctuate and the sun beats down, both humans and dogs can be susceptible to dehydration in any kind of weather condition. A lack of drinkable water can have serious health consequences, so taking proactive measures to prevent thirst is something to take seriously. Having the ability for a constant source of H2O is detrimental in maintaining a safe, functional, and enjoyable bird hunt. It comes down to having enough water in a capable carrying system that is flexible in its configuration and use. DEVELOPMENT
Drifter Hydration was the brainchild of two U.S. military veterans, Joe Gauvain and Ross Ellis, who dreamt up the idea during a hunt, as they saw a need for such an application. The business partners set out to create, develop, trademark, and patent an innovative system that could be used across a varied outdoor community, which would offer adventure seekers a robust product. The multi-functional system can be utilized by all types of hunters, hikers, backpackers, outdoorsmen, and of course, wingshooters, with or without bird dogs. After a couple of years of testing, Drifter Hydration launched in September of 2024.
HARD VS SOFT RESERVOIR
What sets Drifter Hydration apart is the unique first-of-its-kind, taut, hardened-plastic reservoir that can house 2.5 Liters of water. Compared to what a typical soft hydration bladder holds, 1 to 2 liters, depending on size and design, the Drifter Hydration System allows for more water carrying capacity with its 13.5” tall x 6” wide x 2 ¾” depth dimensions. Plus, the system allows the user to filter, allowing for far more water accessibility and expanding one’s hunt deeper into the upland wilds.
Unlike the pliable soft-shell bladders that are prone to damage, tears, rips, and faltering seams that can cause leaks, the Drifter Hydration’s rigid reservoir will maintain its water volume without any breakdown of its high-strength polypropylene structure. The design also allows for easy refilling, cleaning, and maintenance. Users will also not experience the funny taste, typically associated with soft-plastic bladders.
PRESSURIZED
If that isn’t enough, one of the system’s, primary features are that it can be pressurized. A “pressurized hydration system” means that the water reservoir within the system is filled with water under pressure and compressed and pushed out the tube system.

Simply connect the filter to the inside straw and lower it into hard reservoir.
Option two is to use the mini water filter in conjunction with the Transporter Water Bag. This will allow to backfill the Driver Hydration reservoir while bird hunting without the need to remove your bird vest.
