This month marks the one year anniversary of Gun Dog Chat! Where did that year go?? We launched this site on opening day last year to give you an alternate place to share your hunting stories, away from the distraction and censorship of big social media. To celebrate this milestone, we’re not giving away a book this month, instead we’re giving away a SportDOG training system. To be eligible for this contest, you only need to create at least one post, on Gun Dog Chat ( https://gundogchat.com ) during the month of September. The more you post, the better your chances of winning. I’ll compile a list of all post made during the month of September and the winner will be randomly selected from the list. One post equals one entry, ten post equals ten entries. You’ll even be able to select the SportDOG system that you want from the following list:

Quick is a finished hunting dog. Ready to hunt any gamebird. Used as Guide Dog this past season for quail, chuckar, and pheasant hunts; and to retrieve pheasant shot during tower shoots. This has been my only flushing dog this season and he is very well conditioned. Hunted for 3-4 hours at a time. Selling because its the end of guiding season and I will have more flushing and retrieving dogs ready for next fall.

Girls, Guns, and Gun Dogs!

Growing up in the south one gains an appreciation for late fall/early springtime bobwhite quail hunting behind a brace of pointers about as much as anything can be appreciated. The landscape here is dotted with private plantations, public shooting preserves, and small family farms that hold the elusive Gentleman-Bob...opportunities abound. In fact, I cut my gun dog teeth, as it were, training pointing breeds and stumbling around bottom lands I could access hunting quail. It would be some years before I switched my focus over to retrieving breeds entering the world of professional training and trial competition.
